WPCA April 5, 2004 Minutes

The following WPCA members were present:
Joseph Lauria, Chairman; Kevin Briody, Max Caldwell, Ron Hill, Gary Zawacki

Other Attendees:

OMI: Carey Strout, Mark Kajka, Vicktor Huliew, Greg Higgins, Jorge Pereira, Jennifer Keola (Regional Accountant)

Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

1) Approval of Minutes

Motion to approve minutes from the March 9, 2004 meeting by Mr. Zawacki, seconded by Mr. Hill, passing unanimously.

2) New Business

1. Yanity Property - Sewer Relocation Based on the recommendation of Charles Fisher, Town Engineer

Motion to accept relocation of sewer lines on Yanity Property based on the recommendation and review by Charles Fisher, Town Engineer by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Zawacki, passing unanimously.

2. Metcalf and Eddy. Fox Hill Pump Station Bids are due this Thursday, April 8, 2004.

3. HVAC bid One bid came in at approximately $200K, Carey Strout will talk to contractor regarding previous bid with different specifications and prices.

4. Generator Replacement at South Street TGService Generator Company destroyed the generator while working on injector pump. They proposed giving us a $4,000 credit towards a new generator costing $26,209.

Motion to purchase new generator for $22,209 with the help of Jerry Gay, Town Purchasing Director by Mr. Briody, seconded by Mr. Zawacki, passing unanimously.

3) OMI Report

a) OMI Monthly Report discussed in detail.
b) Letter of Intent to renew contract was presented.
c) Mr. Higgins discussed contract process. FCO Full Contract Operation and LO Labor Only and other options were discussed.
d) Mr. Lauria congratulated Jorge Pereira on his recent Class IV license.
e) Mr. Lauria stated that OMI should be acknowledged by the WPCA for excellent operations of the plant resulting in a Nitrogen credits totaling $21,095 from the DEP.
f) OMI stated that Ridgefield Septic "Saved the Day" in a recent bypass. Mr. Zawacki was commended for his outstanding and "over and above the call of duty" efforts to prevent further bypass violations. Mr. Zawacki also stated that a pump could be used to prevent further bypass violations. OMI stated the pump mentioned needs to be rebuilt.

Motion to approve refurbishment and repair of pump by Mr. Zawacki, seconded by Mr. Briody, passing unanimously.

4) Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. by Mr. Zawacki seconded by Mr. Briody, Passed unanimously.
