WPCA June 14, 2005 Minutes

Regularly Scheduled Meeting
June 14, 2005, 7:00 p.m.
400 Main Street
Ridgefield, Connecticut 06877
 
The meeting convened at 7:00p.m. The following WPCA Members were present:

WPCA:          Max Caldwell, Vice Chairman; Amy Siebert, Ron Hill, Gary Zawacki, Kevin Briody
Aquarion:              Jason O’Brien, Jorge Pereira, Jeff Pennell
M&E:                  Jon Pearson
Regular Meeting

1)      Approval of Minutes
1.      Motion to approve minutes from the meeting of May 10, 2005, by Mr. Zawacki, seconded by Ms. Siebert, passing unanimously.

2)      New Business

A)      Annualize Sewer Hook-up Fees by Town of Ridgefield’s Tax Collector
1.      All 10-year hook-up fees will be billed annually in the spring of each year.
2.      Motion to approve the Tax Collector to change the procedure for annual billing for the hookup fees to one billing in the Spring, by Mr. Briody, seconded by Mr. Zawacki, passing unanimously.

3)      Metcalf & Eddy Report
A)      Copps Hill – Headwork’s Project
1.      Mr. Caldwell stated he would like to expedite this project and “go to bid” as soon as possible.  The project would be approximately $1.6M with contingencies and engineering included.  It would be approximately 9 months to completion.
2.      Motion to proceed with the Copps Hill/Headwork’s project with preliminary numbers from M&E subject to final review by WPCA, Engineering and Aquarion (review to be completed by June 21 by Ms. Siebert, seconded by Mr. Hill, passing unanimously.
3.      Mr. Pearson mentioned there is a small chamber at the Copps Hill Pump Station that generates from 35 Copps Hill Plaza.  Will have Town Engineer inspect.
4.      Quail Ridge.  Discussed gravity line from Quail Ridge to Schlumberger.
5.      Priority List for DEP.  Mr. Pearson will update letter from last year and submit to DEP.
4)      Aquarion Report
A)      Call Before You Dig.  WPCA will supply list of street names to Aquarion.
B)      Inspection and Flushing Report discussed.  Aquarion received a quote from National Water Main Cleaning Co.
C)      Air Conditioning unit in Main Building is out of service.  Will get quotes to replace.
D)      Proposal for UV critical spare parts.  Cost for purchasing the missing “critical spare parts” is $3,482.00 plus shipping.
1.      Motion to accept proposal to purchase critical spare parts not to exceed $3,500 by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Zawacki, passing unanimously.

5)      Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 8:40 p.m. by Mr. Hill seconded by Mr. Zawacki, passed unanimously.
