 News 8/21/09: Special Town Meeting on June 17, 2009 approves revisions to Sections 13-40 (Permit required for driveway construction) and 13-41 (Performance bond requirements) to be effective 8/21/09.  Click Ordinance Revision to view document.

News 11/19/08: Ridgefield Town Roads to be treated with an innovative, environmentally friendly deicing product called ICE B' GONE -- A SUGAR COATED SALT.  Click on the link to read why our roads will be safer this winter. 

News 11/22/08: Town of Ridgefield Highway Department selected for the "Distinguished Service Award for its continuous dedication and support to the principles and ideals of The Connecticut Association of Street and Highway Officials" (CASHO).

Department of Public Services responsibilities include:

  • Highway Department --  provides routine repair and maintenance on all Town roads, snow and ice control during the winter months, the removal of accumulated winter sand by the Department's sweeping operations plus the cleaning and repairing of drainage systems and structures. 

  • Transfer Station -- the station accepts, at a fee, solid waste, brush / leaves and recyclables.  Open Monday - Saturday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm.  431-4137

  • Recycling Center -- the center accepts, free of charge, only materials that may be recycled.  Open Tuesday - Saturday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm.  431-2343

  • Questions about State Roads -- click on this link for a list of State Roads -- call the State Department of Transportation (DOT) at (203) 797-4157 for questions or repair requests.  The DOT is responsible for the maintenance of these roads and sidewalks as well as trees in their right-of-way.
