JOIN BLAST AS A LYME PREVENTION EDUCATOR IN YOUR TOWN
The BLAST Lyme Disease Prevention Program needs your help. This year statewide requests for Lyme disease information exceeded our expectations. We invite you to join us in volunteering with BLAST so that no future opportunities for prevention will be missed. The volunteer commitment we ask is participation in two activities in 2011:
- Manning a Lyme disease prevention booth at your local health fair
- Speaking to local organizations about Lyme disease prevention
- Adding Lyme prevention to the classes you already teach
BLAST is a health education initiative focused on the 5 most important science-based behaviors for keeping individuals safe from tick-borne diseases. The program focus is on prevention and education. BLAST has received accolades from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Connecticut Public Health Association, Fairfield County health departments and hospitals, universities and local school systems. Due to this positive response, BLAST received far more requests for programming and event participation than it had the volunteers to support.
We are always happy to meet with prospective volunteers to expand their knowledge about tick-borne diseases and provide valuable experience training in and teaching the BLAST message. Help us by helping your community as a BLAST volunteer Lyme Educator.
